Our Story

We started in Nicaragua in 2007 as beekeepers. The establishment of the company was supported by the Danish government under the Danida B2B program and since then we have expanded our operations steadily.

 

In 2013, we diversified into the cocoa sector and created a dynamic and flexible organization with a high level of knowledge in the agricultural field.

 

Nowadays, Ingemann serves as the access to market for more than 1000 cocoa producers, directly benefiting over 5000 workers and their immediate family members. Together with us, the producers have planted more than 1,000,000 cocoa trees adding in the reforestation of Nicaragua.

Despite all the progress and the increase in the numbers of producers benefited, climate change is affecting producers’ crops and lands.  That’s why in 2016, Ingemann together with the Inter-American Development Bank developed the Adapta Project. Adapta’s objective is to create climate resilience in the honey and cocoa sector; through research and analysis of scientific climatic information. More information in Proyecto Adapta

 

In 2018, Ingemann was selected as a participant of the SDG Accelerator 2018 for our work in creating climate resilience in the cocoa and honey sectors which results are translated in the improvement of plantations performance and hence more access to money for the producer for food, education and investment in their plantations.
